Anime & Manga Glossary

Here are some words that are used in animes mostly! and sometimes even aren't translated in the subtitles:

Anime: Japanese animation.

Manga: Japanese comics. Most of the animes were manga series.

OP/ED: OP is short of 'Opening', and ED is short of 'Ending' which Opening is the 'Opening song' and Ending is the 'Ending Song'. Usually the OP/ED songs while showing on the TV are 1:30 minutes, and then it full version released on CDs.

Otaku: 'Otaku' is Japanese term of 'fan/fans', but also used for'anime fans' and/or 'manga fans'.

Seiyuu: Voice Actors.

Shojo/Shoujo: Anime & Manga Girls ^-^

Shounen: Anime & Manga Boys ^.^

Doujinshi: cute manga or just cute art.

Sensei: Japanese name used for "teacher", "doctor" and "professor"

Kyoushi: formal terms used for academic education instructor/

Baa-chan: short of Obba-san, which means grandmother.

Buruma: Standard, modern Japanese female shorts.

BGM: Background Music.

OST: Original Sound track of an anime series.

Subbed: An anime episode/movie/clip originally in another language, a translation written in the bottom tells you what are the characters saying.

Dubbed: Changing the language voice into another one.

Fan sub: same as subtitles, but those are subtitled (subbed) by fans.

Fan dub: same as dubbing/dubbed, but those are dubbed by fans.

Kawaii: Japanese term of 'cute'

Chara: short of 'Characters'

Youkai: Demons

RPG: Real Play Games. such as Playstation, Nintendo games.

Sentai: Team

Hime: Japanese term used for 'Princess'.

OAV/OVA: short of 'Original Animation Video' and/or 'Original Video Animation'. It's like a short film.

Name Suffixes:

-chan: used for girls and young boys.

-kun: used for males.

-san: it's like 'mr.' (i.e: Shadabadanime-san = Mr.Shadabadanime)

-sensei: used for teachers & doctors.

Adult Words:

Hentai: Pornography >_<

Yaoi: Pornography and love between boys. ('Gay') ~(>_<)~

Shounen Ai: Love between boys, no porn, just kisses etc. ('Gay') T__T

Yuri: Love between girls. @.@ aw..

Ecchi: means pervert in Japanese, same as hentai, but not hard like hentai >__< ah ah

ah, i think i am getting sick just for writing those stupid adult words >___< please, i wrote those to just know them, do not use them to make sites or even surf in those sites.
